Our impact
Collectively, we have made great progress and growth, but what excites us the most is the enormous potential we have to do even more.

Aloha mai e Hartwell Hewahewaokalani Lee Loy, Sr. Scholarship Selection Committee, I am deeply honored and humbled to be selected for the Hartwell Hewahewaokalani Lee Loy, Sr. Scholarship. As a Kanaka ʻŌiwi (Native Hawaiian) and a product of Hawaiʻi's public school system, I have dedicated my life to uplifting kanaka and kamaʻāina students. This scholarship is not only an immense personal honor but also a powerful affirmation of the potential for education to create lasting, positive change in Hawaiʻi. My PhD research focuses on developing economic sovereignty and resilience through education. I envision a future in Hawaiʻi where our keiki are able to afford the ability to live and thrive in Hawaiʻi, and do not have to leave the islands in order to get a good job or buy a house. I see public school education as the catalyst for this positive change and transformation. Mahalo nui loa for your incredible generosity and belief in my work. I am deeply honored, and I appreciate all that you do.
