To the donors of the Makaloa scholarship, I extend my heartfelt gratitude for your support from my ʻohana and me. As a first-generation college student, pursuing a doctoral degree seemed impossible, but with supporters like you that changed. I hope to repay this kindness in the future by paying it forward throughout my career by acting as a mentor for keiki with humble beginnings and big dreams. This scholarship will help me cover my costs of living as I pursue my final year of vet school. As a clinical student I will be unable to continue my two student jobs, so this support is a huge breath of relief for me. Mahalo piha!
