Mahalo donors of the Warren Nakapuna Ah Loo Memorial Scholarship! It truly is a dream turned into reality for me to have the opportunity to pursue a post-secondary education. I plan to study engineering in college, and this generous investment in helping me achieve my aspirations means so much to me and my family. Knowing that I have others who believe in me and see my career vision is so vitalizing, and I am especially motivated to leverage this amazing opportunity into something bigger than myself— I aim to play a role in solving the big-picture problems that too often affect the community I have called home for so many years. In my eyes, the best changemakers are the ones who understand the cultural and contextual subtleties of their communities. As a Hawaiian, I want my educational experience to center around helping Hawai’i grow and expand while respecting the culturally-nuanced community that it is.
