Pauahi Foundation donors celebrated their collective commitment to help Native Hawaiian students achieve their educational goals and watched as the highly anticipated Nā Hanohano (the Donor Wall) was unveiled on ‘Āina Pauahi at Pearl at Kalauao on Saturday, Jan. 25.Hundreds of generous Pauahi Foundation donors came together to celebrate their collective commitment to help Native Hawaiian students achieve their educational goals with the highly anticipated unveiling of Nā Hanohano (the Donor Wall) on ‘Āina Pauahi at Pearl at Kalauao on Saturday, Jan. 25.
The inaugural event recognized donors who gave $1,000 or more to the Pauahi Foundation in the 2024 calendar year on Nā Hanohano as well as the resulting scholarships across the entryway at Pearl at Kalauao on Nā Kīpaipai (the Scholarship Wall).
“Ke Ali‘i Pauahi doesn’t walk alone because of you, our donors!” says Pauahi Foundation Executive Director Pono Ma‘a KSK’82. “As we unveil this inaugural donor wall, we recognize a diverse group of donors including alumni, staff, individuals, corporations and ʻohana who have shared in the same belief as our beloved Ke Aliʻi Pauahi. Whether through a one-time gift, an annual pledge, reunion giving or workplace giving, each act of aloha empowers haumāna and inspires hope.”
Nā Hanohano is organized according to the Pauahi Foundation’s refreshed giving levels that reflect various types of rain in Hawai‘i. While varied in size and volume, all these gifts make a meaningful difference for the environment and those who depend on it. The metaphoric use of water representing gifts pairs with the light of Ke Ali‘i Pauahi’s vision.
Donors who make a gift of $1,000 or more during the 2025 calendar year will be included when the wall is refreshed in 2026 – an added motivation and lasting recognition for those who give generously in support of Native Hawaiian learners and the next generation of leaders poised to carry the lāhui forward.
In addition to celebrating the Donor Wall’s unveiling, guests toured the recently renovated Pearl at Kalauao gathering spaces, including the refreshed ballroom, and enjoyed dinner prepared by the Pearl culinary team in the upgraded on-site kitchen facilities. The Kamehameha Schools venue of choice reopened late last year after undergoing extensive upgrades to and around the golf course and its facilities and it’s available for booking by KS Alumni and anyone interested in hosting an event or gathering.
